Summary
This free half day course is for new school administration staff. It introduces the various ICT systems in use in school offices. It will include:
·                Aspects of the office MIS system with a brief overview of SIMS. 
·                ‘Wired’ familiarisation and useful web sites. 
·                Diary of returns schools make to the LA and DCSF, and the jargon used. 
·                Typical school computer folder structure.
·                Email systems using OWA (Outlook Web Access)
Pre-requisites
Delegates must have mouse and keyboard skills. 
Course Objectives
Delegates will develop insights that will enable them to access school administration systems assist with the following tasks. 
·                Request passwords to school systems.
·                Navigate school systems to store and retrieve information.
·                Obtain help from ICT Services (Schools) by logging calls through the School Service Desk.
·                Gain an overview of the main school software packages.
·                Access the LA Wired information and communication portal.
·                Access local and LA based systems to manage pupil/student and financial information.
·                Use the search facility on Wired to access information
·                Understand some of the school related jargon.
·                Investigate other useful web sites.
