We now have access to request free Comodo SSL server certificates for any .sch.uk domain. All you need to do is email your CSR as either text or an attachment, along with duration of certificate required (1, 2 or 3 years) and the OS of the server that requires the certificate. We'll then do the rest and your certificate will be emailed to you.

Please email your request to helpdesk@nottscc.gov.uk. We will accept any recognised technical staff email address from your school domain.

This years customer survey is now available for completion. All entries, from Nottinghamshire schools, will be put into a draw to win a Toshiba Portege R700. The closing date is 21st October.

ICT Services are pleased to introduce to you the new Audio Visual supplier for both Schools and Corporate departments. We will be ordering both the supply and installation of the equipment through Quadrant Visual Solutions.

1C1N (one county one network) now has access to create organisations, endpoints and video conference sessions through the janet video conference service. The janet service offers true HD quality for H.232 endpoints as well as a new feature to allow PC based webcams to join VC sessions as guests.

So if you need to create VC sessions between two schools or organisations or need to offer HD quality to offsite tutors then give us a call and we'll get it set up for you.

The upgrade to Sophos version 9 is now gathering speed across the county and will be completed shortly. We have surveyed the estate and found that many schools were already on the latest version of sophos and needed no further action. The rest of the schools are either being visited by a team of engineers or are being updated remotely. Schools on our active directory will be upgraded en masse. 

Just a quick note to confirm that any Sophos Anti Virus warnings about the version being out of date can be safely ignored for the time being. The messages that you may have been getting for the past few weeks may escalate in both frequncy and tone but can be ignored.

Sophos are continuing to update version 7, which most of you are on, until 15th May. We are in the midst of planning the update to version 9 before that date is reached.

More information about the upgrade will be coming out shortly.

 The ICT Data Centre, which hosts ICT systems, applications and services managed by Nottinghamshire County Council will be undergoing a major improvement and modernisation programme during the course of the next 18 months. This represents a major investment and will result in a more robust and resilient hosting facility.
