Schools ICT Services Training
Schools ICT Services is committed to providing Nottinghamshire schools with quality training on SIMS packages and Microsoft Office modules. Our goal is to enable employees to use their computer systems more efficiently and to make the most of available technology. Our courses are suitable for individuals who may be new to school’s ICT as well as more experienced users and are regularly reviewed and updated to account for changes in the software and requirements in data management.
Adding an enforced closure to Attendance and Lesson Monitor
After the recent snow there have been a flurry of calls:
From SIMS .net menu: Focus > Attendance > Exceptional circumstance > Add new.
All details are then added and saved.
SIMS - infrastructure or framework errors
This fixes a summary report issue in the school census as well as any kind of 'infrastructure errors' or 'framework errors' when trying to log into SIMS. Please click the 'download button' on the following Microsoft website and choose open/run. Then follow the wizard.
This needs doing on all affected workstations.
Microsoft Website - click the 'download' button when you get there
This will install microsoft .net framework 2 service pack 1
Reinstall the SIMS workstation - workstation fix - wsfix
Step 1
PRIMARIES and SPECIALS click here and choose open/run
SECONDARIES click here and choose open/run
Step 2
Complete the installation wizard by clicking next as many times as necessary and then finish.
Report Assist SIMS .net report
Some schools have the report assist software - it feeds off a sims .net imported report (csv file). The report - Report Assist 2008 ICT Services.RptDef can be found below. You will need to download and save it somewhere on your PC, then import it through the report import process.
Contacts - House icon
The house symbol signifies that the contact lives at the same address as the student.
The house icon ONLY appears if the contact's address is the same as that of the pupil.
They both must be marked as home address.
The contacts need to have parental responsibly ticked.
If the house icon is not appearing, this is because the address appears TWICE in the database and one of them is being used for the student and one is being used for the parent.
Pupil's salutation issue
If a pupil name is prefaced by Mr, Mrs etc at the top of the pupil record then it is likely that the pupil is a contact for themselves and is also their own ancestor - do the following:
